Established in 1947 as a supportive partner to nursing homes, the Association’s job is to serve the needs of providers across the spectrum of long-term care and support them in giving their clients the highest quality care. |

The Minneapolis Senior Ombudsman assists a growing, diverse
population of seniors, people with disabilities, new arrivals,
and people in low-income households. Coordinating with agencies,
programs, and professionals both in Minneapolis and beyond the
city limits, the ombudsman provides information and assistance
so that individuals can fully utilize resources that let them
meet their needs and maintain independent living. |

The University of Minnesota Center on Aging coordinates education and research on aging across
the campus. It includes members from over 28
University departments and colleges. It oversees the
federally funded Minnesota Area Geriatric Education
Center. It operates a Minor in Gerontology, which is
available to graduate students at the masters and
doctorate levels. It is the home for the Shelley
Joseph-Kordell Memorial Scholarship. |
