Shelley Joseph-Kordell Award Winner
Twin Cities Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly
Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) is an international non-profit volunteer-based organization committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among the elderly. Their mission rests on a belief that basic human needs such as food and shelter fall short of what elders deserve. The services provided by LBFE volunteers help extend the independence of elders who are healthy enough to live at home, and provide a supportive presence to those who have made the transition to nursing homes by helping seniors participate in the daily flow of living to the fullest extent possible.

Shelley Joseph-Kordell Memorial Scholarship Recipient Kristine Talley
A certified General Nurse Practitioner (GNP), Talley is pursuing her Ph.D. in gerontological nursing at the University of Minnesota. Talley has devoted her entire nursing career to caring for older adults in the hospital, nursing home and community settings, while teaching nurses how to advocate for their older clients in both health care and political arenas and developing interventions to promote independent living.
