2005 Ceremony

The first annual Shelley Joseph-Kordell Award and Scholarship Ceremony presented its inaugural awards, created to honor the life of Shelley Joseph-Kordell, a geriatric care manager and pioneer in the field of advocacy for seniors who died in 2003.

In addition to honoring Ms. Joseph-Kordell’s work with the elderly, the ceremony celebrates people who work with seniors by recognizing their commitment and dedication to the elderly, and aims to raise the profile of aging-related issues. The ceremony was held at the Earle Brown Center in Brooklyn Center on Friday, October 28.

The Master of Ceremonies was Former Secretary of State Joan Growe; the Honorable Walter F. Mondale was the keynote speaker. In his remarks, Mr. Mondale stressed the importance of Ms. Joseph-Kordell’s work with seniors and praised the generosity and selflessness for which she was known.

2005 Scholarship Recipient Rajean Moone; Shelley's daughter Jennifer Kordell; 2005 Award Recipient Ruth Kildow, Former Secretary of State Joan Growe, Hennepin County Commissioner Gail Dorfman; Honorable Walter F. Mondale.
