Welcome to the Shelley Joseph-Kordell Tribute Website
The Shelley Joseph-Kordell Award and Scholarship Ceremony to Honor Those Who Work with Seniors
Shelley Joseph-Kordell was a geriatric care
manager, a field that provides the elderly and their family with a
variety of services including care coordination, medical advocacy, and
arrangement of community services. In the mid-1980s she founded the
company "Rent A
Daughter" and was passionate about serving her clients.
After her death in 2003, family, friends, and Hennepin County
established a Steering Committee to create and oversee an annual
Ceremony honoring her legacy.
The Annual Shelley Joseph-Kordell Award and
Scholarship Ceremony is held each October at the end of the
Fall Aging
Conference. The Ceremony has three goals:
- to raise the profile of aging-related issues
through a keynote speaker and by honoring those working with seniors;
- to remember Shelley Joseph-Kordell and the
commitment and passion with which she served her clients; and
- to raise money for the Shelley Joseph-Kordell
Scholarship at the University of Minnesota.
